How the Buyback process works
JitterBook pays you cash for any textbook in good condition that
we are looking for. Type in the ISBN for the textbooks you want
to sell and you will receive a quote for that textbook in good
condition. Upon confirmation of your quote you will be able
to print out a free shipping label. You have 7 days to send
us the textbook back from the time you receive your quote. We
then need to receive the textbook within 30 days from time of
quote. The quoted price in good condition is valid for 30
days.
Upon receiving the textbook, JitterBook will carefully inspect
it. If the textbook is deemed to be in good condition, you will
receive the full amount of the quote. If your book is
determined to not be in good condition, you will receive a
discounted rate or no payment at all. All decisions
regarding the condition of the textbooks we receive are solely
at the discretion of JitterBook and all decisions are final. Books not received in good condition will be destroyed. JitterBook does not return
textbooks once received.
General Considerations on Textbook Quality
We DON’T want the book if it has:- Missing or torn pages
- Missing or torn cover
- Have mildew, stains, mold, or water damage of any sort
- Excessive highlights, hand writing or book mark tags
- Missing the book’s CD, Infotrac or any other accessory that originally came with the book.
- Books with an odor – tobacco, mold, perfume, etc.
- Books with stuck or cut pages
- Advanced copy editions, teacher’s editions, unpublished works, instructor’s manuals
- A partial set of a multivolume set, encyclopedias of any type or multivolume sets above 3 volumes
- International Editions
JitterBook makes every attempt to keep in contact with you during the buyback process but we don't want you to feel spammed. Expect three emails. (Please email us if you aren’t receiving these emails at questions@jitterbook.com).
- Quote Confirmation – this will give you a summary of your buyback order and a Quote ID number. You should receive this immediately after you’ve submitted your buyback order.
- Received Book Confirmation – will describe that we received your book, typically media mail takes from 6-22 business days.
- Check Confirmation – we will send you an email once we mail the check. Checks are issued within 4 business days of receiving your textbooks in good condition.
You may receive an additional email if your textbook is found
to not be in good condition.
Cancellation of Order
You may cancel the order at any time prior to shipment of
the textbooks. To cancel the order, simply log into your
account, select the quote and click on the “Cancel This
Order” link.
Shipping the Book to JitterBook
First off, there is no charge to you for shipping us your
textbooks via media mail. We pay for the shipping!
How you package is important since it may reduce the
condition of the textbook if not done well. Here are some
pointers:
- Use a bubble mailer for one textbook
- Use a sturdy carton if multiple textbooks
- Boxes over 40 pounds tend to result in damaged textbooks. It is recommended to send us multiple boxes rather than one box if you have a larger order. The Postal Service limit is 70 pounds.
- Lay textbooks flat in the box
- Remember to include all CD’s, Infotrac, booklets etc
- Place sufficient packaging material so the textbook(s) are secure in the box.
- Don’t use newspaper, it will smear and affect the quality of the textbook.
- Use packing tape, scotch and masking tape will not hold up.
- Don’t use USPS Priority or Express mailers found at the post office or Fed Ex mailers. We will be charged the express shipping and will deduct this amount from your total payment.
Once you’ve packaged the textbooks, affix the prepaid mailing
label and deliver it to any post office. JitterBook is not
responsible for any lost or damaged items. You may want to
insure or obtain delivery confirmation for your textbooks. Our
free shipping label does not cover these expenses. JitterBook is not responsible for
textbooks lost or damaged by
the United States Postal Service.
You have 7 days to send us the textbook back from the time you
receive your quote. We then need to receive the book within
30 days from time of quote. We will cancel the buyback order
if not received within 30 days. If we receive the textbooks
after that time, we will notify you and you will receive a
new buyback quote price since the price of the books may
have changed.
Payment through PayPal
For fastest payment, use PayPal. Your payment goes directly to you if you have a PayPal account tied to your existing bank account. No checks to wait for or cash. To get started, click on the PayPal logo at the bottom of this page and click on the "Start using PayPal" link.
Check Processing
JitterBook is not responsible for the fraudulent use of checks.
What is an ISBN?
This is a 10 or 13 digit number used by book publishers to
uniquely identify the textbook. It’s located on the back of the
textbook in the lower right hand corner.
Some textbooks have two ISBN’s which indicates it came with a
supplement or is part of a series. Use the top ISBN for the
textbook only and the bottom ISBN if you have the textbook and the
supplement. If a textbook has two ISBN’s be sure to use the
correct one as misidentifying the textbook may result in a price
different than the quoted price.
